by Admin on December 12, 2023

Dear colleague,We are writing to announce the 11th annual Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW), and to invite you to participate. We are excited to host the 2024 workshop in-person on June 13-14 at the University of Michigan.LPW is an annual pre-read workshop designed to foster reflection on the nature of law and the philosophical issues underlying its different areas. Our aim is to promote work that connects legal philosophy with other branches of philosophy (e.g., moral and political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, or philosophy of action) and to create a venue for the critical examination of different viewpoints about law. All sessions are plenary and you can find more Information about LPW for this year and years past on our website. We would like to invite you to submit an abstract or to volunteer to comment. Please ensure that the abstract is anonymised and that it does not exceed 1,000 words. This is also a call for commenters. The deadline for volunteering to comment and submitting your abstract is January 15, 2024. You can sign up to be on the mailing list, volunteer to comment, and submit an abstract by filling out this form. We expect to make our selection of abstracts by the end of February 2024.
Once we have received abstracts, we aim to put together a diverse program that we hope will be of interest to a wide range of people interested in legal philosophy.
We look forward to hearing from you. Best,Raff Donelson, Illinois Institute of TechnologyWendy Salkin, Stanford UniversityJean Thomas, Queen’s UniversityWill Thomas, University of MichiganHadassa Noorda, University of Amsterdam
